About Me

  My Work.

 I'm Rachel. I am currently a 4th grade, self contained, teacher. I teach at a title-1 school in a suburb of Houston. Our school is proud to be a DAL (Discovery Approach Learning) school, a close sister to PBL (project based learning). The 2013-14 school year was my FIRST year as classroom teacher! Previously I worked as an aide in a Life Skills classroom - my heart belongs to special education!

My Love.

   I am engaged to a wonderful man! We are getting married this December, 12-13-14. Hopefully we'll both remember our Anniversary with a date like that! Together we proudly support the Houston Texans, love trying new food and new recipes, enjoy a glass of wine on a patio, and smack talk each others Fantasy Football teams.

My Fun. 

   I love trying my hand at DIY projects. I spent forever pinning away wonderful ideas and am finally getting around to actually using some of those ideas. My current obsession is furniture re-do's. I love seeing something old, turn into something wonderful and new!
   I wouldn't exactly call myself a wine-o or a foodie. That just sounds too pretentious. However, I do love a good glass of red wine and a nice plate of yummy cheeses. I love being in the kitchen, it makes me happy to serve food that everyone loves. I am defiantly an amateur, I've had one or two fails that we just don't talk about. While I love trying new and exciting foods, my favorite by far will always be mac & cheese. MmmmMmm!
   I am currently trying to make the gym my fun as well. I finally decided that the freshman fifteen (or 30 or 40) had to go! It's hard work trying to make food taste good and still fit into my allotted daily calories! Some days it's hard to convince myself that the gym is indeed a necessary evil, but slowly I am seeing progress.
